The Quality of the Connection
Performance and reliability of an optical connection is crucial for the long term performance of the optical networks.
It depends on 6 Major Factors:
- Connector Specification: Ferrule Hole Diameter & Eccentricity
- Specification of Optical Fiber used.
- Clean Fiber Endface & Ferrule Surface
- Sophisticated Connector Polishing Process
- Measurement of Endface Geometry
- Low Insertion Loss and Back Reflection
Contaminated Connector Endface
Connector Endface Leaving Naficon Factory
Clean Fiber Endface & Ferrule Surface
Contaminated Connector Endfaces, Scracthes and Pits Cause Insertion Loss
Naficon has 3 stages of endface inspection during their manufacturing process (100%)
- 400X Videoscopic Inspection after polishing.
- Make sure that Fiber & Ferrule endface is 100% free of Scratches and Pits.
- 400X Videoscopic Checking before Insertion Loss/ BR Testing.
- Make sure that no damage is caused during connector mating.
- 100X Videoscopic Final Inspection
- All the ferrule surfaces and fiber surfaces are checked.
Following International Standards
Naficon follows the following International Standards for its manufacturing.
